The Resilience Plan by Marie-Hélène Pelletier is built on a straightforward idea many people don’t want to hear: Resilience is not innate.
That’s the unwelcome news. The better news is that resilience can be taught and learned. After all, we see incredible examples of resilience around us every day.
In her book, Pelletier guides leaders through personal self-discovery and capacity-building. It’s a practical guide for individuals that includes a mix of generalizable strategies, customized self-teaching, and motivation. Though Pelletier speaks directly to the reader, her strategies are easily transferable once mastered.
The Resilience Plan is the sort of book leaders “assign” to their teams to read outside work, use as the basis for on-the-clock team capacity-building exercises, or both.
